KittenSpays/Neuters

Our doctors recommend puppies and kittens are spayed/neutered at 4 months of age unless there is a specific breeding plan for them. It is very important females are spayed before their first heat, as each cycle increases the risk of breast cancer by 23%. Neutering Puppymales at this age also decreases the occurence of intact male behavior.

Adult dogs and cats can be spayed or neutered at any time. We advocate the surgery as soon as you decide your pet will not breed any more litters to remove the danger of testicular, prostate, ovarian, uterine, and breast cancer.

Bunny
Yes, rabbits need to be spayed/neutered as well! Call us for more information on all your critters.

During the surgery, the patients are maintained under gas anesthesia, monitored by a veterinary assistant at all times. The dogs and cats are also given pre and post operative pain medications, an antibiotic injection, take home pain medication, and a complimentary nail trim. The day of their surgery, the pets are dropped off in the morning and go home the same afternoon. Sutures used during the procedure are absorbable and located just under the skin, eliminating the need for an additional suture removal appointment.
